Purpose
This website contains biographical details of people known to have lived in the City of Prospect, South Australia (1933 - ) or its predecessor the District Council of Prospect (1872 - 1933). It also includes people connected to those parts of the District Council of Yatala South and District Council of Yatala which were subsequently incorporated into the District Council of Prospect in 1872. People with a strong connection to Prospect - even if they did not live there - are also included. It does not contain information about people who went prospecting, either in Prospect or elsewhere. There is a separate link to soldiers from Prospect who served in World War One or World War Two. |

Prospect Local History Group
The Prospect Local History Group operates under the auspices of the Friends of Prospect Library and has the following objectives:
- Promote community interest in the history of the Prospect area
- Encourage research into local history
- Conduct a range of activities to encourage the study, collection, recording and preservation of history in the Prospect area
- Advocate for the preservation of history in the Prospect area
- Conduct an annual program of activities
- Publish books, videos etc about the history of the Prospect area.

Pioneers Association of South Australia
We recommend also looking at the website of the Pioneers Association.
They have a vast array of resources for family and local historians.
The Pioneers Association of South Australia Incorporated was founded in 1935 and has the following principal objectives:
- To perpetuate the memory of the pioneers of early settlement in South Australia.
- To establish and maintain a faithful record of the pioneers for the benefit of present and future generations.
- To encourage the preservation of records, portraits, relics and historical materials associated with pioneer settlement.
- To promote awareness and knowledge of South Australian history.
- To affiliate with any other organisation with objectives similar to those of the Association.
