Notes (points of interest etc.) |
Considered
the “Father of South Australian Football”. At
a meeting of interested gentlemen at the Globe Inn, Rundle Street on
28 April 1860 the Adelaide Football Club was formed. John Acraman and J B
Spencer were captains of each of the first two sides to play a game. The
captains were also the umpires. The Adelaide Football Club morphed into North
Adelaide Football Club, South Adelaide Football Club and Old Collegians.
Although the present day North Adelaide Football Club did not spring directly
from the original, the original must have played a part in building support
for the Australian code in Prospect. On
Board of Governors of St Peter’s College, Acraman
Creek & Lake Acraman (an ancient
meteorite impact site) are named after him.
