Interests/Activities

First Chairman of the Adelaide Mechanics Land Company .In July 1838 he purchased a number of 80 acre sections in what is now Prospect as Chairman of the Adelaide Mechanics Land Company. These were subdivided into 8 acre blocks which shareholders could purchase for £10. Some blocks were the further subdivided into allotments. One of these was block 39, subdivided as Prospect Village (now Elizabeth Street) where allotments for advertised for £1.10.0 - £2.0.0.
