Notes
(points of interest etc.) |
Godfree’s
shop was a local landmark and there are many references in Trove of places
being described at near “Godfree’s Corner” Amelia
and her mother appear to be quite important in the relationship. Amelia’s
mother loaned the money to buy the property at 122 Main North Road in
Amelia’s name in 1881. A prudent move
judging by the insolvency case for Joseph in 1884/5. A good report of the case can be found in
Trove in the Evening Journal or Express & Telegraph on Wed 25th March
1885 giving an indication of the Commissioner’s feelings about all parties
. Amelia
broke her leg in Quorn 1910 having been thrown out of a buggy In
1927 son George is listed at the Duke of Wellington Hotel at Payneham Road,
Payneham. |
