Honours List He was the great grandson of George Fife ANGAS and he inherited
Lindsay Park Stud after the death of his father selling it to Colin Hayes in

1935 He began his medical course at the Adelaide University, but after
passing his first examination returned to England and entered the University
of Edinburgh, where he graduated M.B. and C.M. in 1894. He was appointed resident medical superintendent of the smallpox
hospital in Edinburgh, and later was for three years attached to the City of
London Hospital for diseases of the chest. Afterwards he joined the staff of
the Hospital for Children, and then that of the Royal Free Hospital, both in
London. After his marriage in England to Miss Agnes Minnie Williams, he
returned to South Australia, entering into practice at Prospect, where he
remained until his death. |

Joseph Ernest GOOD was one of the earliest doctors in
Prospect. It is said he would visit his patients in a smart carriage driven
by a groom in livery. If a call was urgent and his coachman was off duty he
would visit on a bicycle or on horseback. Agnes became a leader in the Red Cross and other
fundraising activities State Library has photos in their collection of Thomas GOOD, wife Mary Ann and children
Charles Thomas, Joseph Ernest
(SLSA B 56238) and Emily PROUD Trove - The
Express and Telegraph 23 Feb 1883 lists the family – Mr and Mrs T Good
and Lydia, Annie, Elizabeth, Charles and Joseph leaving for England on the
ship Cuzco NB – A number of Good family members married into a Goode
family. |
