One of the Colony’s first dentists. In partnership with Mr EA Philips. They
were possibly the first dentist appointed to Adelaide Hospital (appointed
1859). From 1878 he had a large practice at 78 North Terrace. |

He was very
interested in botany and was a member of the Field Naturalists Society. A
prominent Freemason, he was a member of three lodges, including St Albans. He
founded the Masters and Wardens Association and in 1868-88 was worshipful
master of the Lodge of Friendship. |
