of Prospect during her husband’s term 1954-1957. SA
Hardcourt champion 1932-1935, President Sportswomen’s Assoc 1969-74. Member
SA Davis Cup Committee, the first woman appointed to the Board of the
Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, a founder member of Festival City Broadcasters
and was a board member of numerous other organizations, including the
Adelaide Festival of Arts, the South Australian Housing Trust and the Carclew
Youth Performing Arts Centre. Served
many charities including Red Cross Society SA, Crippled Children, SIDS &
CWA. Awarded
OBE 1959 for services to the community. 1981
made a Dame of the British Empire. Jubilee
150 plaque erected for her on North Terrace. In
1993 the SA Govt established The Dame Ruby Litchfield Scholarship for the
Performing Arts. |
