A big Catholic wedding which her family would have wanted for her was not possible because Horrie was divorced.

Tried to enlist in Royal Flying Corp in UK when WW1 broke out. Returned to Australia. Enlisted in Ballarat and embarked October 1916 with No2 Squadron Aust Flying Corp. Served in France.  

Later joined  Royal Australian Flying Corp in 1921 for 2 years

 

In the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for 1978 he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE, for services to aviation

 

Awarded the Oswald Watt Gold Medal  for excellence in the promotion of Australian aviation in 1984.

 

Horace Clive Miller, of Parafield, aviator, was fined £2 19/6 for having left his motor car on North terrace, Adelaide, for a longer period than 30 minutes on June 27 1928

 

A road at Perth International Airport is named Horrie Miller Drive.
