Erlistoun Mitchell built her own career as a well-known
embroiderer whose works are held by the Art Gallery of South Australia. She
was well known for her William Morris designs worked in silk. The Dictionary of Australian Artists On-Line states: ‘Embroiderer,
South Australia, produced many works after Morris & Co. designs,
including table covers, a screen, mantel borders and a splendid portière.’ |
