The obituary states three sons and three daughters. ‘One of the sons is the well-known musician, Mr W. B Pybus.’ Probably a misprint for W. R. Pybus (1848-1917), Professor of Music, who married 1880 Anna Emma Swift, daughter of photographer Capt Sweet.

Iron Founder and engineer. Supplied water to the City of Adelaide (with a Mr Turner) - ‘the water was pumped into large tanks and filtered through charcoal’, and provided the water supply for the City’s fire trucks. He erected the first gas works and swimming baths in the City of Adelaide.

He was an artillery lieutenant in the volunteer reserve. With J.S. Bagshaw he helped found the first lodge of the Ancient Order of Oddfellows (Apollo and Hercules Lodge). He was a Prospect Councillor 1873 - 1877; Chairman 1876/77
