Credited
as the person who first proposed the name ANZAC Day in Australia (previously 8 Hour
Day) His name was drawn from a number of people who suggested that as the
special name for the day after a competition to name a monster procession,
pageant and carnival on 13 October 1915. It was originally intended to be the
name for this event only. He was
a member of the Eight Hours Celebration Committee. Sat 2
March 1901 Robert Wheeler held a large juvenile fete which included a musical
programme at his Prospect home which raised 2.2/- for the Children s Hospital. |
